Overview

Quick Move Now is one of the most established fast home buying companies we have reviewed. It was first registered on Companies House in 1998.

The company’s registered office address is Unit 9 Coped Hall Business Park, Royal Wootton Bassett, Swindon, England, SN4 8DP, and it operates across England and Wales.

The organisation claims to be the Uk’s original home buying company. Its website is well set out and easy to navigate, and the information provided seems to be very transparent and easy to understand.

In terms of the typical timescales of its cash property purchases, Quick Move Now adheres to the preferences of the seller. They state that they can buy “within 7 days”, but that “the majority of our customers choose to complete in 3-4 weeks”.

They even mention that they “can have the money to buy your property with your solicitor in less than 3 hours”.

In its FAQs, the company does mention that “we can't guarantee timescales if you choose to use a solicitor that we've not worked with before”.

They are particularly precise when it comes to the typical amount that they offer for a property. While they are able to pay up to 85% of full market value, their current average is 82.5%.

It is clearly explained on the company’s “Cash House Buyer” page that genuine cash buyers cannot make offers of 90% market value or above.

On their “How it Works” page, the organisation states that “if you use a recommended solicitor, Quick Move Now can pay all the legal costs”.

In fact, in their FAQs, the company explains that “there are no fees to pay at any point in the selling process”, and that “you are free to walk away right up to the point you exchange contracts”.

Pros and Cons

There are positives and negatives associated with all organisations within the property industry. In this section, we explore the pros and cons of using Quick Move Now’s services.

Pros

  • Like

Quick Move Now is a long-established company with decades’ worth of experience - making it a rare find in the world of cash home buying.

The organisation is very transparent about its average offer and the cash reserves it has available, helping you to feel confident in the amount you’re likely to receive and where it comes from.

Not only is the company a member of the National Association of Property Buyers (NAPB) and registered with The Property Ombudsman Services (TPOS) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), but it is also affiliated with a range of other regulatory bodies.

These include the Trading Standards Institute and the British Property Federation. Furthermore, the company has been awarded the Carbon Footprint Standard, revealing its commitment to environmental responsibility.

The information on Quick Move Now’s website is clear and informative, making it easy to find all of the information you need to fully get to grips with how they work.

Clients will not be subject to any contracts right up until exchange, so there is no obligation to go through with the sale.

All agency fees are covered - as are legal expenses, as long as you use a conveyancer recommended by Quick Move Now. They also cover the cost of an Energy Performance Certificate.

What’s more, the organisation has the flexibility to work to a timescale specified by the seller.

Cons

  • Like

Considering its age, the company really does not have many reviews at all. What’s more, some of the feedback scores quoted on their website are incorrect.

Their overall customer experience rating on Feefo is currently 4.8 stars - rather than the 4.9 claimed in the “Reviews” section of their website. This is, of course, a minimal difference - and it can be difficult to keep information of this kind accurately updated.

What’s more, Truspilot’s ratings can decrease if the organisation has not been reviewed in some time, without any change to the number or quality of existing reviews.

They also claim that they have a 4.5 star rating via Google Reviews, rather than their actual current rating of 4.4 - but this factor is much the same as the above.

The real difference is in the claims related to their Trustpilot reviews. On their site, Quick Move Now claims to have an overall rating of 4.5 stars on this platform. However, in checking Trustpilot itself, it appears that they have only 3.8 stars.

Unlike many other cash home buying companies, Quick Move Now is not able to buy property with tenants in situ. In fact, they do not make the same “we buy any house” claim that many other similar companies make.

Instead, they explain the scenarios in which they may be unable to buy a property in their FAQs. These are:

If the property is unmortgageable (this would mean we will find it difficult to sell it at a later date) If we are unable to accurately ascertain market value If the property has sitting tenants or does not come with vacant possession If there are any other factors that may place an unduly high risk on us being able to resell the property

Despite the rest of the information on their website being fairly clear, it is hard to find out what costs would be incurred when using one’s own estate agent rather than a specialist recommended by Quick Move Now.

Fact Check

  • CLAIM

“Quick Move Now is the leading home buying company in the UK”.

  • FACT

Many organisations make claims of this kind, but Quick Move Now also says “we have the credentials to prove it”.

With more than 6,000 homes purchased, an annual turnover of over £34.2 million and £1 billion worth of property traded since the company launched, this is the closest that any of the companies we have reviewed has come to providing their position as the industry leader in numerous respects.

Parent/Sister organisations:

Quick Move Now Limited appears to have been trading under the same name since 2015 - prior to which, it was called Quick Move Properties Limited. For a short time before this, between its launch in June 1998 and August 1998, it was called “Wisecrew Limited”.

It does not appear that Quick Move Now has any parent or sister organisations with which it is affiliated.

In-Depth Company Summary

Selling Your House with Quick Move Now: The Process

Quick Move Now has a dedicated “How it Works” page, where the organisation explains the process of selling to their specialist property buyers.

There is a simple description of each step at the top of the page, with a more in-depth explanation displayed below. The basic steps are as follows:

  • STEP 1

    Get in Touch

Contact our team to discuss your property and obtain an indicative offer.

  • STEP 2

    Get a Formal Offer

After an independent valuation, we’ll make you a free, no-obligation cash offer for your house.

  • STEP 3

    Choose Completion Date

If you choose to accept our formal offer, you decide the date for sale completion.

  • STEP 4

    Completion

On your chosen date, the house sale process is completed and the money is transferred to you.”

Financial Status

Financial Status

Quick Move Now is fairly transparent about its financial status on its website. The company claims to have “over £12m available to buy property” and that it has “directly bought more than 6,000 properties” during its time in operation.

On Companies House, the organisation’s full accounts have been made up until November 2021. This reveals gross profits of £1,504,449 - a decrease of just over 12%.

The company’s 2021 turnover was £9,654,842 in 2021, down approximately 37% from its 2020 figure of £15,235,391.

Quick Move Now confirms on its “Sell House Fast” page that “2e purchase with our own cash funds We don’t rely on mortgages or investors, and always buy your property ourselves, so we can offer you a quick house sale that can’t be matched by the open market or other property buying companies”.

Quick Move Now: Fees Paid

Will Quick Move Now Pay All Legal Fees Associated With My Sale?

Financial Status

The company promises to pay all of your legal fees “if you use a recommended solicitor”. Quick Move Now themselves work with Gary Hope, Wards Solicitors, 7 Fountain Court, New Leaze, Bradley Stoke, Bristol BS32 4LA.

Valuation Fees

Quick Move Now provides free, no obligation valuations. They undertake both an initial in-house valuation and an independent valuation to verify or adjust their estimated offer.

Estate Agency Fees

There are no estate agency fees to pay with Quick Move Now. On their homepage, the company states: “all fees associated with a ‘traditional house sale’ are eradicated. You’ll have no estate agent fees or EPC costs to pay”.

In their FAQs, they even explain that “you are free to walk away right up to the point you exchange contracts” with no fees to pay. You will not be asked to sign any option contract or other tying paperwork.

Viewings

Because there will be no third party buyers involved in your sale to Quick Move Now, you will not need to host viewings or facilitate visits from house hunters.

The company states in its FAQs that they will not need to carry out a survey “before we make a formal cash offer. If you do decide to accept our offer and proceed then we will need to complete a survey just to make sure the property is structural sound [sic]. All surveys are completed by local, independent surveyors”.

However, under the question “Do Quick Move Now need to visit my property in order to make me a cash offer?”, the company answers “we try to limit access as much as possible to simplify the process. If your property is not currently on the market, we may have to ask a local estate agent to visit your property to carry out a full appraisal in order to provide us with a valuation and further market conditions”.

We believe that arranging a visit in order to inform your property’s valuation is always the best move, as if your home buyers have not seen the building in person, an inaccurate offer is more likely.

Awards

Despite its longevity, and its claims of being among the largest and most successful property buying companies in the UK, it does not appear that Quick Buy Now has achieved any awards or prizes throughout its time in operation.

Customer Service

Customer Feedback

Quick Buy Now has very few customer reviews to its name compared to many of the other companies we have reviewed.

On Trustpilot, the organisation has received just 57 ratings, receiving an average score of 3.8 stars. 72% of users rated the company 5 stars, 9% gave 4 stars, 3% 3 stars and 16% 1 star. There were no 2 star ratings given.

It is worth discussing the company’s Trustpilot account in further detail because, as we mentioned above, the information on Quick Move Now’s website does not reflect the data available via this platform.

The overall Trustpilot rating shown in the Quick Move Now website’s “Reviews” section claims that the company’s rating currently sits at 4.5 stars. However, as mentioned at the top of this section, Trustpilot itself shows that the company has a score of just 3.8 stars at the time of writing.

Quick Move Now also displays overall star ratings of 4.5 stars on Google and 4.9 stars on Feefo when, in actual fact, the company is rated 4.4 stars and 4.8 stars respectively on the platforms themselves.

This suggests that the company’s reviews are not entirely up to date on its website.

Quick Move Now has just 62 reviews on Google and 10 reviews on Feefo, although this latter amount is only measured across the past 12 months. Throughout all time, the company’s Feefo reviews total 188.

On Twitter, Quick Move Now has 1,069 followers and posts daily - with the content being generally similar to that of its Facebook posts. The company has had an account on this platform since 2007.

Quick Move Now’s LinkedIn profile has 159 followers. It usually posts daily and, again, the content shared is very similar to - or the same as - its posts on Facebook and Twitter.
